Fundraising Tips
- Spread the Word: Start with friends and family. A quick text, email, or message explaining your fundraiser and why your K9’s protection matters goes a long way.
- Use Social Media: Share updates on Facebook, Instagram, and X. Post photos, videos, and your fundraiser link, and use hashtags like #K9Hero and #SpikesK9Fund to expand reach.
- Get the Community Involved: Connect with local businesses, veteran groups, law enforcement organizations, and online K9 communities that are eager to support working dogs.
- Show Your K9 in Action: Photos and short videos from training or downtime help people connect and see the real impact of their support.
- Say Thank You: Publicly thank donors and supporters. Gratitude builds trust and encourages others to join the mission.
Finally, always keep donors updated. A quick note of thanks or a story about your K9’s progress can turn supporters into lifelong members of your K9’s fan club. You’ll be surprised how many people will rally around you and your partner when you invite them in. We’re here to help you succeed, so if you need any guidance, just ask.
Share Your K9 Team's Story
Your journey with Spike’s K9 Fund continues beyond receiving assistance. Share your K9 team’s story, whether it’s a successful mission or daily bond, to inspire others and help support K9 programs nationwide. Your story may be featured in our newsletter, social media, and fundraising materials.
Donor Patch Project
Connect with donors by sharing your K9's journey through our patch program
Wear Patch
Spike’s K9 Fund will send you an official Velcro-backed patch featuring our logo. Simply attach it to your K9’s vest or harness during your normal shifts and training.
Capture Moments
Take photos of your K9 in action wearing the patch
Candid, real snapshots are perfect. We’ll ask you to include the photos along with a quick 1-minute survey
Send Back
After the patch has seen some action, you’ll mail it back to us (we’ll provide a return label upon request). This is where the magic happens: we package that patch – complete with the dirt and history your K9 gave it – along with your story, and deliver it to one of our donors as a special thank-you
Inspire Donors
For you as a handler, this is a chance to show gratitude to those who helped protect your partner and to pay it forward for other K9s. For the donor, your patch and story become a one-of-a-kind keepsake that lets them see the real impact of their support and feel even more connected to our mission. The result? “A stronger circle of support for every future K9 we serve.”
Ready to wear the patch and share the impact?
This program is completely voluntary, but we find that handlers love it – it’s a fun project for your K9 and an incredible morale boost for everyone involved. Join us in bringing the Spike’s K9 Fund story full circle!
